色彩、线条、几何造型和肌理效果成为了林菁绘画的核心元素，它们既是物理结构也是独特的视觉冲击。绘画对她而言，便是遵循直觉、在瞬间的灵感驱使下使用另一种工具而进行的创作。她在绘画材料的选择和使用上虽亦然丰富，但却把它们揉杂交融后结合成一种更为和谐的视觉效果。林菁作品的构图、色块和纹理的并置，既描述了空间也压平了空间。这就像是一种玩味，向你揭示一个秘密，给出一点提示，却不点破其中最关键的信息。或许这正是艺术家们的旨趣。由此，我们感受到艺术家在抽象表达中的印象派成分。有些人或许会将它们归入抽象，而它们仍然暗示了某些东西，即使未被清晰描述，却毋庸置疑地存在着。

“大象”即宇宙的形状，无法用人的所见所闻去描述，因为这样宏大的形象即是无形。“真”是自身以为的真理，真相，真诚，而事实是“最白即好像污浊”，由此而生得名“大象真白”。人在山中不见山，画在作者和观者之间如同出山入山之感，通过林菁的作品畅游另一个时空，感受色彩、快慢、厚薄、空间，形与无形的莫测留落下一片各自自我的意象和臆想的维度，但一切只是线索，真相与答案存在你我心里。

Colour, form, and texture are the core elements of Lin Jing’s paintings, both as physical structure and visual effect. For Lin, painting is an intuitive, instantly inspired creation with a tool. On top of her various choice and use of painting materials, she combines them into a more harmonious visual effect. Lin Jing’s paintings seem to depict, yet the forms that might be these things are nebulous, and the edges of everything remains vague. This is in part because the approach to juxtaposing blocks of colour and texture flattens ‘space’ even as it suggests it. Like revealing a secret by giving only a hint and leaving the vital information unsaid. Which is par for the course with artists perhaps. The paintings are thus impressionistic, in the realm of abstraction some might feel, but they are still suggestive of something, even if that is left undescribed, but there is a presence nonetheless.
‘Da Xiang’ means the shape of the universe, which cannot be described by what people see by their eyes. Such a greatness is shapeless. ‘Zhen’ is the truth, and sincerity. And when it comes to the fact, sometime ‘the pure white(bai) is the muddiness’, thus the title in Chinese ‘Da Xiang Zhen Bai’. One cannot see the mountains when he is in the mountains. The paintings between the artist and the beholder are just like into-out of the mountains. Through Lin Jing’s works, we may travel into them, to another time and space, to feel the colours, speed, thickness, space, shape and invisibility, and to leave a piece of imagery and imaginary dimension of each self. Here, everything is just a clue, the truth and answer only exists in your heart.
