Cheung Chau Bun Festival is a traditional festival on Cheung Chau Island in Hong Kong with a history of many years. The origin of the festival is that people pray to ghosts and gods for good weather and peace. The traditional customs of the festival are offering sacrifices, watching floating colors, snatching bags of mountains, and so on. The residents of the island continue the festival tradition, so that the festival culture still glows with its brilliance after the passage of time. However, with the changes of the times, young people's enthusiasm for festivals is no longer strong, which will have a negative impact on the inheritance and development of festivals. With the vigorous development of Hong Kong's tourism industry, more and more tourists spend the festival with local villagers. In order to inherit and carry forward the traditional festival culture, the author hopes that by designing souvenirs for the festival, it can bring both aesthetic and practical souvenirs to the participants and spread the traditional festival culture.
The author designed a poster, a Logo and three basic graphics in this design activity. Then combine Logo and basic graphics to design a total of six kinds of souvenirs, namely, pillows, short sleeves, canvas bags, badges, postcards and headscarves.
In this design activity, the author completed the design task of the Cheung Chau Bun Festival souvenir, which makes the souvenir both aesthetic and practical. At the same time, the author has two aspects of experience.
● It is feasible to inherit and spread traditional culture in an innovative way, and it is also the responsibility of contemporary designers.
● It is believed that design can have a great impact on human life.
